OTD In-Person Instructor
 

Overview:

 

The role of the Orientation to Discipleship (OTD) In-Person Instructor is to serve as a Classroom Instructor for the Orientation to Discipleship (OTD) course. The OTD course is an 18-week course designed to instruct new members on the foundational biblical beliefs, doctrines, and community practices of Grace Congregational Church. The instructor will be responsible for leading engaging, face-to-face sessions, managing course content, facilitating discussion, and assessing student comprehension in a traditional, in-person classroom setting.

 

Description of Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Instruction and Facilitation (Academic & Instructional Design)

    • Classroom Delivery: Deliver the established 18-week OTD curriculum effectively in a live, in-person classroom setting.

    • Active Learning Facilitation: Design and implement interactive, biblically focused activities, discussions, and projects that promote student engagement, critical thinking, and spiritual growth in a face-to-face environment.

    • Assessment Administration: Administer and evaluate fair and effective in-class assessments (quizzes and assignments) to gauge student understanding of Grace Congregational Church's biblical beliefs.

    • Differentiated Instruction: Cater to diverse learning styles within the physical classroom, offering spiritual support and clarity on complex theological concepts.

  • Classroom & Technical Management

    • Presentation Proficiency: Set up and operate basic A/V equipment to display PowerPoint or similar visual presentations on a screen for students during class sessions.

    • Materials Distribution: Distribute and collect physical course materials and assignments as needed.

    • Classroom Environment: Maintain an organized, welcoming, and conducive learning environment for all participants.

  • Communication and Community Building

    • Clear and Concise Communication: Provide excellent verbal instructions and constructive theological feedback to students.

Assistant OTD In-Person Instructor
 

Overview:

 

The role of the Assistant Orientation to Discipleship (OTD) In-Person Instructor is to provide direct support to the Lead OTD In-Person Instructor in the delivery of the OTD course. The OTD course is an 18-week course designed to instruct new members on the foundational biblical beliefs, doctrines, and community practices of Grace Congregational Church. The Assistant Instructor will aid in classroom management, material preparation, technical setup, facilitating small group discussions, and assisting students in a traditional, in-person classroom setting.

 

Description of Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Instructional Support

    • Classroom Assistance: Support the Lead Instructor during the 18-week OTD curriculum delivery, including distributing materials, collecting assignments, and managing logistical tasks.

    • Discussion Facilitation: Lead or co-lead assigned small group discussions and activities, ensuring all participants are engaged and theological discussions remain focused and respectful.

    • Student Support: Provide individual assistance and clarification to students, under the direction of the Lead Instructor, on course content and assignments.

  • Classroom & Technical Management

    • Preparation: Assist the Lead Instructor in setting up the classroom prior to the session, including arranging seating and preparing necessary supplies.

    • Technical Setup: Ensure all A/V equipment (e.g., projector, screen, sound system) is functional and ready for the Lead Instructor’s presentation.

    • Environment Management: Help maintain an orderly, welcoming, and productive learning environment throughout the session.

  • Communication and Community Building

    • Rapport Building: Actively engage with new members to foster a welcoming and supportive sense of community and connection.

    • Communication Link: Serve as a secondary point of contact for students, relaying essential logistical information or questions to the Lead Instructor as necessary.

    • Biblical Encouragement: Offer spiritual encouragement and demonstrate Christ-like conduct in all interactions with students and staff.

  • Self-Management and Adaptability

    • Punctuality and Reliability: Commit to attending all scheduled weekly sessions and arriving early to assist with setup.

    • Time Commitment: Dedicate the required hours each week (estimated at 1.5 - 2 hours weekly) to attend the session and assist with preparation/wrap-up.

    • Flexibility: Be ready to step in and assume additional responsibilities as requested by the Lead Instructor or Organizational Manager.

    • Assessment in Online Environments: Administer and evaluate fair and effective online assessments (quizzes and discussion posts) to gauge student understanding of Grace Congregational Church's biblical beliefs.

Door-to-Door Witnessing Coordinator

Overview:

 

The Door-to-Door Coordinator is responsible for organizing and facilitating Grace Congregational Church's regular door-to-door witnessing efforts. This vital role ensures that outreach activities are conducted responsibly, respectfully, and in compliance with local regulations and property management requirements, maximizing the effectiveness and positive perception of our ministry within the community.

 

Description of Key Responsibilities

 

  • Outreach Planning and Scheduling

    • Establish and communicate the schedule for Door-to-Door Witnessing.

    • Secure necessary materials for each outreach event (e.g., tracts, informational flyers, sign-up sheets).

  • Property Identification and Permissions

    • Identify potential apartment complexes, gated home communities, and other managed residential areas within the church's target vicinity for outreach.

    • Contact property management, homeowner associations (HOAs), or other relevant authorities to understand and secure formal permission for the witnessing team to conduct door-to-door activities on their premises.

    • Maintain a current, organized log of approved properties and any specific rules or restrictions provided by management (e.g., timing, designated areas).

    • Ensure that no witnessing is conducted in areas where permission has been denied or is legally prohibited.

  • Team Management and Training​

    • Provide a brief orientation to the team before each session, covering the approved territory, any specific property rules, safety guidelines, and the message/materials for the day.

    • Serve as the primary contact person for the volunteers and for any property managers during the outreach activity.

  • Post Event Follow-Up

    • Collect and summarize any data or feedback gathered by the outreach team (e.g., prayer requests, new contacts, interest in church programs).

    • Report briefly to the Ministry Head or Pastor on the outcome of each outreach session, noting any challenges or successes.

 

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Maintain God-ordained priorities in your life by putting Jesus the Christ first, your family (i.e. spouse, children, etc.) second and the ministry third.

  • Regular attendance to Bible Study and Sabbath worship Service.

  • Reliable attendance and punctuality for the scheduled outreach dates (typically one Saturday a month, 9:00 am – 10:30 am).

Time Commitment

  • Outreach Time: 1.5 hours every other month (Saturday, 9:00 am – 10:30 am).

  • Preparation Time: Approximately 1–3 hours per month for identifying locations and securing permissions.

Evangelism Strategist

Goal/Objective:

 

To serve as the primary strategic architect for the church's evangelism and outreach efforts, focusing on research, data analysis, opportunity identification, and the development of sustainable, metrics-driven strategies that empower the entire congregation to effectively share the Gospel within the local community.

  • Strategic Planning and Data Analysis

    • Annual Strategy Development: Design, propose, and refine an annual evangelism strategy and blueprint in collaboration with church leadership, ensuring alignment with theological mission and community needs.

    • Demographic and Spiritual Mapping: Conduct ongoing research and utilize available data (e.g., local demographics, spiritual trends, census data) to identify key underserved populations and the most receptive mission fields within the church's proximity.

    • Metrics and Assessment: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for outreach effectiveness (e.g., community engagement rates, new contact follow-up success) and establish systems for collecting, analyzing, and reporting on these metrics.

    • Program Evaluation: Periodically review the effectiveness and sustainability of existing outreach initiatives against defined strategic goals, recommending modifications, scaling, or discontinuation as necessary.

  • Opportunity Identification and Curation

Corporate Prayer Leader
 

Role Definition:

 

Corporate Prayer Leaders are individuals appointed to stand and pray over the congregation during Corporate Prayer services. Their primary function is to cover segments of the ministry and the body of Christ in focused, public prayer.

 

Description of Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Public Prayer

    • Lead the congregation in prayer during designated moments within the service (corporate prayer segments).

  • Intercession​

    • Stand in the gap, praying over the congregation, ministry leadership, and specific needs of the body.

  • Preparation​

    • Be prepared to cover assigned segments of the service or congregation with focused, biblical prayer.

  • Service Attendance​

    • Leading or covering a dedicated prayer segment requires mandatory attendance at the leader meeting Fridays prior to the Corporate Prayer Sabbath.

  • Discretion​

    • Ensure all public prayers are respectful, appropriate, and aligned with the church's doctrine and tone.

 

Requirements & Qualifications

 

  • Active member of Grace Congregational Church.

  • Maintain God-ordained priorities in your life by putting Jesus the Christ first, your family (i.e. spouse, children, etc.) second and the ministry third.

Appointment

Corporate Prayer Leaders are by Senior Pastor appointment only.

Time Commitment

To be assigned a prayer segment on the Corporate Prayer Sabbath, Corporate Prayer Leaders must adhere to the following time commitments:

  • Monthly Meeting Attendance: Physically attend the Monthly Meeting, held for one (1) hour at 12:00 PM every Friday immediately preceding the Corporate Prayer Sabbath. Assignment of a prayer segment is contingent upon attendance at this meeting.

  • Corporate Prayer Sabbath Briefing: Those who have been assigned a prayer segment (based on their attendance at the Friday Monthly Meeting) must arrive for the Corporate Prayer Sabbath Briefing at 11:10 AM

Sunday Prayer Leader

Role Definition:

 

Sunday Prayer Call Leaders are responsible for facilitating the weekly congregational prayer call, ensuring it remains focused on prayer and structured according to the established agenda. This role is crucial for fostering spiritual unity and strength through collective prayer.

 

Description of Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Facilitation

    • Welcome attendees, introduce the call, and lead the opening and closing prayers.

  • Structure Adherence

    • Follow the established Sunday Prayer Calls agenda (e.g., introductions, request sharing, praying, praise reports, closing remarks).

  • Time Management

    • Maintain the call within the 30-mintue window (unless prayer naturally extends the time).

  • Focus Maintenance

    • Gently guide the conversation back to prayer if it drifts into casual conversation or discussion.

  • Delegation

    • Encourage attendee involvement by asking for volunteers to pray for requests or by making prayer appointments.​

  • Authority

    • Maintain leadership throughout the call; do not allow any single individual to dominate or "take over" the prayer time.​

  • Communication

    • Reiterate key ministry information (events, services) during the closing remarks.​

  • Accountability

    • Secure an Alternate Leader (recommendation encouraged, but final approval rests with the Senior Pastor) and participate in scheduled leader meetings (monthly/quarterly).​

  • Attend a Monthly (Virtual) Prayer Call Leader Meeting with the Senior Pastor and/or the Executive Pastor (15-30 minute time commitment).

Nursery Chaperone
 

Overview:

 

The Nursery Chaperone provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for the children (typically ages 0-4 years) of our church community during scheduled ministry events. This vital role allows parents and guardians to participate fully in the church service, knowing their children are well-cared for. All volunteers must successfully pass a mandatory background check prior to serving.

 

Description of Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Childcare and Supervision: Provide attentive and loving care to infants and toddlers, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.

  • Safety and Health: Adhere to all church safety policies and procedures, including check-in/check-out protocols, diaper changing guidelines, and sanitation practices. Immediately report any accidents, injuries, or suspected illnesses to the Nursery Coordinator or a designated staff member.

  • Basic Needs: Attend to the children's basic needs, which may include bottle feeding, diaper changes, comforting, and assisting with simple play activities.

  • Play and Engagement: Facilitate age-appropriate activities, such as reading books, singing songs, and supervised play, to encourage positive development.

  • Room Maintenance: Assist with light cleaning and tidying of the nursery space before, during, and after the service or event, ensuring toys and surfaces are clean and organized.

  • Communication: Maintain respectful and professional communication with parents, guardians, and church staff. Relay important information (e.g., feeding times, diaper change details) to parents during pickup.

  • Policy Adherence: Understand and comply with the church's Child Protection Policy and all nursery-specific guidelines.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Age: Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Experience: Previous experience working with infants and toddlers (paid or volunteer) is strongly preferred.

  • Disposition: Must possess a patient, warm, energetic, and nurturing demeanor with a genuine love for children.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift children (up to 30 pounds), sit on the floor, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.

  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with co-volunteers and the Nursery Coordinator.

  • Child Protection: Successful completion of Grace Congregational Church’s background check and child safety training program is mandatory.

 

Commitment

 

  • Schedule: Volunteers commit to a predetermined schedule, typically serving during one event per month.

  • Punctuality: Must arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the service/event for preparation and stay until all children have been picked up.

  • Training: Attend a mandatory annual orientation and any required safety/policy training sessions.

  • Reliability: Communicate scheduling conflicts or absences well in advance to the Nursery Coordinator to ensure adequate coverage.

Youth and Children's Praise and Worship Mentor

Overview:

 

The Praise and Worship Mentor is an adult volunteer responsible for guiding and supporting our Youth and Children’s Praise and Worship Leaders. This role focuses on equipping young leaders with the practical skills and spiritual understanding necessary to lead dynamic and engaging worship for their peers. The Mentor will primarily assist with song selection, fostering enthusiastic singing, and encouraging age-appropriate movement and action songs.

 

Description of Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Song Selection and Preparation

    • Assist Youth and Children's Worship Leaders in curating a repertoire of songs that are biblically sound, theologically rich, and accessible for the target age group (children or youth).

    • Help leaders structure the worship set for flow, energy, and spiritual focus.

    • Ensure all necessary materials (lyrics, chord charts, tracks) are prepared and organized before rehearsals and services.

  • Fostering Enthusiastic Singing

    • Provide constructive, encouraging feedback to help leaders sing with greater passion and conviction.

    • Encourage leaders to fully engage with the lyrics and lead from a place of personal devotion.

  • Encouraging Movement and Action Songs

    • Guide leaders in selecting and integrating appropriate physical movements or action songs, particularly for younger children's worship.

    • Help leaders understand how movement can enhance participation and energy during worship.

    • Model enthusiastic, uninhibited worship movement to encourage the young leaders to do the same.

  • Mentorship and Spiritual Growth

    • Pray regularly for and with the Youth and Children's Worship Leaders.

    • Disciple young leaders in the "why" of worship leadership—that it is service and ministry, not performance.

    • Be a consistent, encouraging presence during rehearsals and worship times.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Age: Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Faith Background: A mature, growing relationship with Jesus the Christ, characterized by prayer and Bible study. A passion for worship and a heart for discipling children and youth. Agreement with the church’s statement of faith and core values.

  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to offer positive and constructive feedback. 

  • Experience (Preferred): Demonstrated experience in leading worship, singing, or musical performance is highly preferred. Ability to connect positively with children and youth (ages 5-18). 

  • Child Protection: Successful completion of Grace Congregational Church’s background check and child safety training program is mandatory.

 

Commitment

  • Time Commitment: Reliability and commitment to a consistent weekly/monthly schedule. Typically 30 minutes to an hour per week for rehearsal and preparation, plus time dedicated to relevant meetings and/or services (e.g., Youth and Children’s meeting, Youth and Children’s Worship Service). Additional time may be required for special events (e.g., VBS, Feast programs).

  • Location: Primarily in person with the child and another adult volunteer or parent.

Youth and Children's Content Reviewer
 

Overview:

 

The Script/Content Reviewer is a key adult volunteer responsible for supporting our youth and children messengers (speakers, presenters, content creators) in developing and refining their spoken or recorded messages. This role focuses on ensuring the content is theologically accurate, clear, and age-appropriate, while meticulously preserving the youth messenger's unique voice, core ideas, and intended passion.

 

Description of Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Review and Feedback: Read or listen to draft scripts, presentations, or content outlines created by youth messengers.

  • Theological Vetting: Evaluate content for biblical and doctrinal accuracy, referencing established organizational beliefs and standards.

  • Clarity and Flow: Provide constructive feedback aimed at improving the logical structure, clarity, and overall flow of the message.

  • Youth Voice Preservation: Work collaboratively with the youth messenger to refine the content without overriding their personal style, original concepts, or creativity. The goal is refinement, not rewriting.

  • Age-Appropriateness: Ensure that complex theological concepts are communicated in a manner suitable for the intended audience of the youth messenger (e.g., peers, younger children, mixed adult/youth groups).

  • Sensitivity Check: Identify and flag any potentially confusing, misleading, or insensitive language for respectful revision.

  • Timely Turnaround: Commit to reviewing materials within agreed-upon timelines to keep the production process on schedule.

  • Mentorship: Serve as a positive, encouraging mentor, building the youth messenger's confidence in public speaking and content development.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Age: Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Faith Background: A strong, established understanding of biblical principles and the theological framework of the Bible and Grace Congregational Church (or demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adhere to it).

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide critical feedback in a gentle, encouraging, and constructive manner.

  • Experience (Preferred): Prior experience in teaching, editing, writing, ministry leadership, or content development is beneficial.

  • Child Protection: Successful completion of Grace Congregational Church’s background check and child safety training program is mandatory.

  • Time Commitment: Flexible, project-based commitment, averaging 1-3 hours per month, depending on the current content production cycle.
